How much is "not a lot of money" for a booklet?
A booklet author wrote me today saying that a prospective bulk buyer loved the booklet, wanted to print it and also be able to distribute the PDF version, and that they weren't prepared to pay a lot of money to do it. The prospect is a very large corporation. They wanted the booklet author to think about it and come back with a price for this.
My advice to the booklet author is that the prospect must say a number to define what "not a lot of money" means. And further advice to the booklet author is to be prepared to walk away from a number that becomes insulting. After all, the employees of this major corporation get paid for the work they do. Why shouldn't the booklet author?
Until next time,

Paulette,
I read an interview you did and you wrote you sold 15,000 booklets one at a time. Was that from sending out the inital 250-300 booklets or did you send out a lot more than that for the publicity excerpts? Thank you for your time.
Lisa,
That particular one came from a single publicity excerpt from among the hundreds I had sent out.

Paulette,
Thank you. I thought the article said in 1991 you started to get some 3.00 checks a bit but then hit a goldmine in feb 1992. Were there a few different mags/publications that printed it?
Also if you were to do it today would you do a press release instead or the same method of sending booklet plus a letter.
I think Marcia Y said she sometimes sends out a press release w/o including her booklet and gets some in publications that way. Thank you once again.
Lisa
As I said, that *particular* publicity excerpt brought the result you cited. I didn't say that was the only publicity excerpt.
You'll find more complete answers to your questions in the articles section of my site, and in my home study kit "How to Promote Your Business with Booklets." I'm also available for phone consultations.
Marcia Yudkin and I do many variations on a theme over the years.
